YUPO Paper

A few months ago a friend of mine posted some art that she did with Alcohol Ink on YUPO Paper. I was blown away by the color and vibrancy. I did a little research and have added it to my list of mediums I want to try.

365 Days of Art

Today is September 1, 2013. I have decided to embark on a great adventure and do some type of art each day for the next 365 days. I plan to take a step out of my goto medium of Acrylic painting on canvas and explore all sorts of other types. I will be posting them daily. I also plant to sell some of those on Etsy.

Day 1: Freeda in Watercolor and Sharpie on Watercolor Paper

Inspired by a new friend and her artistic quest, I am following in her foot steps and will be creating a new piece of art from start to finish every day for the next year. My goal is to explore new techniques and mediums, step outside my comfort zone and see in a way I haven’t before. Today’s piece is a mix of watercolor and sharpie on 8″ x 10″ watercolor paper. It’s inspired by a piece I saw online a few months ago. I am calling it “Freeda”, loosely based on Frida Kahlo and my husbands daily encouragement and support of my creative freedom. Thanks Lynn!

Holy Nora

Holy Nora

Recently a friend of my Mom celebrated her birthday. She is always doing such wonderful things for my family that I decided to do a little something special for her birthday. I painted her a cross in acrylic on a 5″ x 7″ canvas. She is very spiritual and you can’t have too many crosses around the house. Word is that she loved it and it is already framed and sitting out for everyone to see. I am so happy she likes it.

Melinda's Margaritas

Melinda’s Margaritas

My friend Melinda mentioned having margarita night a while back and she made it sound so festive. I kept thinking about those margaritas and melinda and decided to do a little something special for her.

Counting Fish

Counting Fish

This painting took longer than I inticipated. I spent a lot of time on the bird. I sold this to a wonderful lady in San Diego. I hope she is getting much joy out of it.

Aloha Rainbow Angel

Aloha Rainbow Angel

Sometimes the notion hits me at the weirdest times. This painting started and finished in about 3 hours. I don’t know where it comes from. The craziness, the anxiousness to paint it right NOW!
