Buck 10x8 Alcohol Ink on YUPORecently I completed a piece that I have wanted to do for quite a long time. Buck, 10×8, Alcohol Ink on YUPO pays homage to my youth. Growing up with a family full of gunsmiths I saw many deer. Most of them at the end of their life in front of me on the dinner table. I spent many hours in deer stands hanging out with my Dad and at one point killed a deer. That one experience made me realize I was not a hunter.

Tarrywile Spring Artisan Fair — Eclectic Mix of Booths

Participation in the Tarrywile Spring Artisan Fair was a great experience. There was such an eclectic mix of booths. Booths included fabric covered button jewelry, handmade greeting cards, alpaca socks, painted drift wood and a watercolor artist. Our event coordinator Stacey did a fantastic job putting the event together and the venue was very unique. We had the luxury of being setup in the green house room of the historic Tarrywile Mansion. Lots of light and some very cool windows completely surrounding us! Perfect to display my very colorful art. I raffled off a free class to one of my upcoming classes and the winner was a young lady named Courtney. I look forward to seeing her again and sharing my passion of Alcohol Ink Painting with her.

The rain and cool temps did not discourage my students this past Saturday at Gallery 25 in New Milford, CT. In all we had 14 students attend and I know the majority of them have a new obsession — Alcohol Ink Painting! It is always such a pleasure to share this relatively new medium with others. It’s so much fun to see all the amazing art created by my students.

We had a nice turn out and everyone was very excited about learning more and incorporating this medium into their current art applications. A big shout out to Gallery 25 for hosting me and a huge thanks to my husband Tony! He is the most awesome assistant I could ask for! Alcohol Ink Art Buzz Events

Recently I participated in the Annual Syrup Festival in Henderson, TX. My booth was located in the Depot Museum and it was the perfect place for me to do demonstrations and offer my art to the public. I had two assistants with me, Jaiden and Tayler. Both did an outstanding job demonstrating different techniques using alcohol inks. Tayler surprised me by engaging many visitors with what she had learned about alcohol inks. She definitely has a future in marketing! The Depot Museum itself was a very cool place with lots of historical information and items to look at. If you ever visit Henderson, TX, go check it out!

dannaj Danna Phalen ArtistDannaj Art was selected to participate in the Annual Newtown Arts Festival in Newtown, CT September 13 – 14, 2014. This is a wonderful arts festival featuring everything from glass and forge to art on driftwood and handcrafted wooden magic wands. The two days were also consumed by tons of entertainment from local schools, musicians and performing artists. There was even a gentleman walking around with beautiful parrots and a macaw bird. And of course there was delicious food! I am sure they will be posting tons of photos soon on the official festival Website http://www.newtownartsfestival.com/.

Dannaj Art had two giveaways over the weekend. David  M. won the painting displayed on Saturday and Kelly R. won the painting displayed on Sunday. Congratulations to both of you!!!
